Window Coverings Deserve Your Careful Consideration
|
Window coverings or window treatments are
your chance to accent each room of your
home. You may choose to go with wood
blinds, faux wood blinds or shades of one
kind or other, but whichever you choose I
suggest you be consistent in the material
through most of the house. For that
European feel you can do the roman blinds,
which are actually just fabric blinds. If
shooting for the country look you may go
with flower patterned curtains with big bow
tiebacks. Let the décor of the rest of your
room guide you in choosing the window
coverings. The window treatments should
enhance your décor not drive it.Some times
you will find it is best to actually have two
different window coverings. There would be
the curtains that will be seen from outside
the home and then there would be the blinds
or shades that provide the light and
temperature control.
Sometimes a tinted screen can be hidden
up under a valance and only be in sight
when put into use. Honeycomb or collapsing
blinds are a very modern way to go. They
are not a focal point but are very practical.
One of benefits honeycomb or cellular blinds
is that they are good in helping reduce
energy bills. Another window covering that is
efficient in controlling light and heat is the
good old fashion heavy material curtain.
Window shades, window blinds or window
curtains, they are all different kinds of
window treatments. Each has its own good
points as I pointed out. What you need to do
is compare the design and benefits of each
to see which is best for your home. Do you
have children or pets? Are you in an urban
or a rural setting? Are you looking for
privacy or climate control? What kind of
budget do you have for window treatments?
These are all questions you should consider
when deciding on the style of window
coverings to choose. After all, some will
gather dust and dirt faster than others and
some will conserve energy better than
others. I think a little planning on points other
than pure good looks is just good sense.
